Kristen Bell doesn’t just walk into a room — she breezes in and immediately fills it up. Not because she’s a big physical presence — after all, she stands only five-foot-one — and not because she’s gregarious — the actress speaks softly and succinctly — but the Michigan native who has undoubtedly become Hollywood’s new “it” girl, strides into the photo shoot high up in the Hollywood Hills, like she owns the place. Wearing Joe’s jeans, Coach embossed print sandals and a pink blazer over a grey loose tee, Bell is definitely savoring her time in the spotlight, looking every inch a Hollywood star, but minus the internal trappings of ego and attitude. In her short time since arriving in Los Angeles, via a New York University Fine Arts degree, Bell landed her breakout role in 2004 as a crime-solving school detective in Veronica Mars, segueing into electric-charging Elle on Heroes, the title character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the faceless narrator on Gossip Girl. Usually cast as a younger character rather than her true 29 years, Bell is relishing her new roles in the upcoming movies Couple’s Retreat (with Vince Vaughn) and When In Rome opposite Josh Duhamel and real-life boyfriend Dax Shepherd. “Vince is a comedy powerhouse,” she exclaims of the man who kept her laughing on- and off-camera. “I think laughter is vital, it’s number one in my overall well-being. I even think fart jokes are funny. Laughter provides so much to your emotional and mental health. And you have to be able to laugh at yourself — that’s the key.

KRISTEN Bell wants more female costars!

The actress — who stars alongside Jon Favreau, Vince Vaughn and Jason Batemen in the recent movie Couples Retreat — says she is fed up with being a man magnet and is looking to get more attention from the ladies.

“There’s too many guys in my movies,” she said. “For some reason I keep doing movies with all guys in. I need to find some girls because I feel like I’m missing out.”

But the 29-year-old insists she’s grateful to have shaken off her image as the oldest teen in Hollywood.

“It’s exciting to start playing characters that are more my age now,” she adds. “I know the facts of the situation are that I look a lot younger than I actually am and that’s no bad thing!”

Bell recently insisted it isn’t taboo to go and see and therapist.

“I’m a big advocate of therapy, it’s not taboo out here [Hollywood],” she said last month. “You’re constantly talking about it, referencing your therapist or giving your friend’s the number of your therapist.

“It’s only when you travel a bit out of L.A. that people don’t want to talk about it. They want to keep it hidden, but we don’t need too.

“I’m proud of the fact I see a therapist, it shows you’re a strong person and that you want to grow and change.” [Source]

Kristen Bell has revealed that she and her boyfriend love having “snuggle parties”.

The Couples Retreat star, who has been dating fellow actor Dax Shepard for nearly two years, said that they believe the secrets to a long-lasting relationship are hugging, board games and honesty.

Bell told Women’s Health magazine: “It’s important to talk about your deepest, darkest fears and feelings. Your partner should hear your most embarrassing insecurities, because once you say them out loud, you’ve created a safe zone. A snuggle party can fix anything – it’s true.”

She added: “There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax.”

Talking about filming comedy When In Rome with her boyfriend, Bell added: “We were trying to one-up each other. That’s what we do at home too. It’s like, ‘Wait – watch me do this funny bit’. ‘No, watch me do this funny bit!’” [source]

Kristen Bell wore her pyjamas to work “on principle” when she was recording her voiceover for Astro Boy.

The actress made the confession at the movie’s premiere in Hollywood.

“Very literally I would show up in my pyjamas, even if I had to record at three or four in the afternoon I would change back into my pyjamas just on principle because if you have a job you can show up to on pyjamas I say go for it,” she confessed.

“It’s wonderfully comfortable,” she added.

The Couples Retreat actress admitted that at times she felt a little crazy recording her lines.

“It was a little bit strange to be in a recording booth with no one else. Having to converse with someone that’s not there is pretty frustrating

“The hardest thing was doing the action sequences because you’re pretty much standing in a room by yourself karate chopping a wall, going ‘hwah’, ‘hwah’,” she said.

As for having a superpower like Astro Boy, Kristen joked there was no competition, saying: “I would have the machine guns coming out of my b**t because I just feel like someday that’s going to be necessary!” [source]
