Kristen Bell asks everyone to go barefoot for one day
Written by hayley on April 1st, 2010

Kristen Bell is going barefoot Thursday, April 8th.

The whole idea is to bring attention to how a pair of shoes can have a huge impact on a child’s life.

The “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star is supporting TOMS Shoes as the company produces its third annual “One Day Without Shoes” campaign that asks everyone to go barefoot April 8th.

She joins other celebs such as “Hairspray’s” Brittany Snow and YouTube sensation Mitchell Davis in the campaign.

Barefoot events are being planned around the globe spreading awareness on how important shoes are in parts of the world where children’s feet are exposed to diseases…some of them debilitating.

Soil-based parasites in developing countries attack young people as they grow up without shoes, often having to walk miles barefoot to get food, water, medical help or attend school.

“A shoe company asking people to go barefoot?” asked Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes. “I know it’s odd, but we are so excited for people to once again join us in One Day Without Shoes. We ask people to go the day, part of the day, or even just a few minutes, barefoot, to experience what millions of children endure every day.  Awareness and empathy are the catalysts of change.”

The problem is large but the solution is simple. Wearing shoes and basic hygiene can prevent both infection and disease due to unsafe roads and contaminated soil. By imagining a life barefoot, we can all contribute to the awareness of these conditions.”

Kristen Bell, Meryl Streep And More Women To ‘Shine On’ During A One-Night Only Broadway Show
Written by hayley on March 9th, 2010

It’s always refreshing to see strong, independent and influential women celebrated. And with the help of Meryl Streep, Kristen Bell, Fran Drescher, Laura Benanti, and Kelli O’Hara, we have a unique opportunity to see just that!

On Monday, April 12, Good Housekeeping will host “Shine On,” a one-night only Broadway production, celebrating the magazine’s 125th anniversary. The mag plans to mark it’s anniversary with a salute to influential and inspiring American women of the past 125 years, from Icons to Goddesses and Visionaries to Hellraisers.

Lynne Taylor-Corbett, two-time Tony Award nominee and choreographer of the feature films “Footloose” and “Bewitched,” will direct the play, and proceeds will benefit the National Women’s History Museum. The 90-minute production will feature stars like Meryl and Kristen Bell and additional guests and performers who will be announced in the coming weeks.

“Shine On” honors all types of powerful and intelligent women, specifically those whose imagination and nerve changed our lives forever. Susan B. Anthony, Madonna, Sally Ride, Dorothy Parker, Diane von Furstenberg, Martha Stewart and many more are all part of the inspiration for this show.

Kristen Bell Is Engaged to Dax Shepard!
Written by hayley on January 31st, 2010

Kristen Bell is engaged to Dax Shepard, her rep confirms to UsMagazine.com exclusively.

Shepard, 35, proposed over the holidays, a source tells Us.

Bell, 29, debuted her ring on the red carpet of the Grammys Sunday night.

The couple first stepped out publicly in January 2008.

Bell detailed her perfect date night with Shepard in the November issue of Women’s Health.

“There is almost nothing, barring a natural disaster, that I would let eat into my time at home, playing Scrabble with Dax or talking to my girlfriends,” she said.

She joked that they were competitive while filming romantic comedy When in Rome, currently in theaters.

“We were trying to one-up each other,” she said. “That’s what we do at home, too. It’s like, ‘Wait – watch me do this funny bit.’ ‘No, watch me do this funny bit!.”

The secret to their relationship?

“I’ve learned the necessity for healthy communication. How important it is to talk about your deepest, darkest fears and feelings,” she says. “Your partner should hear your most embarrassing insecurities, because once you say them out loud, you’ve created a safe zone.”

And “a snuggle party can fix anything — it’s true,” she added. [SOURCE]

Viva Magazine
Written by hayley on December 5th, 2009

Kristen in in the December 2009 issue of “Viva” magazine. I have added the photoshoot to the gallery. The interview is below!

Kristen Bell doesn’t just walk into a room — she breezes in and immediately fills it up. Not because she’s a big physical presence — after all, she stands only five-foot-one — and not because she’s gregarious — the actress speaks softly and succinctly — but the Michigan native who has undoubtedly become Hollywood’s new “it” girl, strides into the photo shoot high up in the Hollywood Hills, like she owns the place. Wearing Joe’s jeans, Coach embossed print sandals and a pink blazer over a grey loose tee, Bell is definitely savoring her time in the spotlight, looking every inch a Hollywood star, but minus the internal trappings of ego and attitude. In her short time since arriving in Los Angeles, via a New York University Fine Arts degree, Bell landed her breakout role in 2004 as a crime-solving school detective in Veronica Mars, segueing into electric-charging Elle on Heroes, the title character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the faceless narrator on Gossip Girl. Usually cast as a younger character rather than her true 29 years, Bell is relishing her new roles in the upcoming movies Couple’s Retreat (with Vince Vaughn) and When In Rome opposite Josh Duhamel and real-life boyfriend Dax Shepherd. “Vince is a comedy powerhouse,” she exclaims of the man who kept her laughing on- and off-camera. “I think laughter is vital, it’s number one in my overall well-being. I even think fart jokes are funny. Laughter provides so much to your emotional and mental health. And you have to be able to laugh at yourself — that’s the key.
